Barking Gecko Forge is now offering the following knifemaking classes in Nannup, Western Australia. 

Knifemaking Experience $650. (1 day class) No experience required.

Hands on class designed for those that just want to dip their toe into knife making. In this class you will choose from either a hunter or kitchen knife, shape your blade using the stock removal method, heat treat your blade, grind in your bevels, learn the joy of hand sanding, fit and shape your handle and sharpen your finished knife.

Beginner Bladesmith $990. (2 day class)  No experience required.

Designed for the beginner, this in depth two-day class we go through each process in making a knife from start to finish. You will forge either a hunter or kitchen knife from carbon steel, heat treat your blade, grind bevels, hand sand the blade, fit and shape the handle and sharpen your finished knife. (Option to use premade random damascus extra $125)

Slipjoint Folder $1450. (3 day class)  Some knifemaking experience required.

3 day intensive class touching on all aspects of making a slipjoint folder. You will select a pattern, layout and cut out parts from cpm154 stainless steel. learn about blade and spring fit up, heat treat your parts, grind and hand sand your blade, fit bolsters and mill relieve the liners, profile the knife, fit and pin the scales, fine tune the rise and fall, grind a swedge, cut in a nail nick before final assembly and peening the knife together. (Option to use premade damascus and exotic materials POA)

Classes are generally 1 on 1 but we can run classes for 2 people if you wanted to book in with a mate

Prices include gst, all materials required for the class. Insurance and PPE.

Prices do not include transport, accommodation or meals.

Participants must be 18+ and are required to wear appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear.
